Green Roofs

A “Green Roof” is a roof of a building that is partially or completely covered with vegetation and soil or other growing medium, planted over a waterproofing membrane. Some systems also include drainage and irrigation systems. “Green roof” technologies are a sustainable roof option that provides a proven return on investment because they protect the roof membrane which results in:

  • a longer material lifespan
  • decreased maintenance and savings in replacement costs

“Green roofs” also offer savings on heating and cooling costs with savings greater depending on the size of the building, climate, and type of green roof.
